This
volume gathers together essays written by a number of distinguished scholars to
celebrate the eightieth birthday of Schuon, the man whose luminous message has
touched their lives and the lives of many others on the deepest level both
intellectually and spiritually. Appropriately entitled Religion of the Heart, it
is an expression of their gratitude to "one of the foremost intellectual
and spiritual figures of the century, whose writings, whether in the field of
metaphysics, cosmology, comparative religion, traditional science, sacred art,
or the criticism of the modem world, contain a transforming light and presence
unparalleled in this day and age". Schuon's vast and profound influence
upon contemporary intellectuality and scholarship is reflected to some extent in
this volume.
